The Brazil-EU Strategic Partnership – Realities and Potential
Conference organized by CEPS in cooperation with EUBrasil and FRIDE
On March 4-5, top level Brazilian and European scholars will examine in depth the major challenges that this strategic partnership faces: slower world growth, major macroeconomic imbalances, the possibility of an EU-Mercosur free trade agreement and other trade policy developments, the respective policies to address climate change, foreign and security policy norms, and comparative "continental regionalism" in Europe and the Americas.
This event is the conclusion of a project which has studied this test case in the search for alliances in a context of multipolarity and of quest for better global governance at the G20 level.
"We are glad to be able to contribute to this event – said Luigi Gambardella, President of EUBrasil. The aim of our association is to promote stronger business and political ties between Brazil and the EU. These two economic partners need more open and competitive economies and societies. A deep relationship between the EU and Brazil could be an extraordinary "plus" to pursue that road and be successful".
